We have had a very productive January and February and are looking forward to a busy summer and fall. We've started our filming year earlier than usual, with weddings in Jan, Feb and upcoming March. Our next wedding, we will be working with our good friend Ed Coll from Sky's The Limit Photography. We've worked with Ed many times and have created an approach that makes both our photos and videos better. Ed has a great eye for photography and is great to get along with, his clients are very lucky he hasn't raised his prices, yet.
We will be bringing our highly qualified assistant Heidi, who adds to our productions with years of filming and editing experience. One of Heidi's latest accomplishments was the editing of Lupe Fiasco's live concert from Congress Theater in Chicago. We hope she doesn't become to big to quick and leave us for LA.
We will be at the Grove City Country Club and nearby Beloved Disciple Church on March 7th, for Nicole 's wedding, Hoping for good weather. Will post some pics or video asap.
We're getting everything ready for a great year and look forward to covering all the unique weddings. BTW, Blu Ray is on the horizon. How much would you invest for a HD version of your wedding? TTYS.

2009 State of the Wedding Union.

So 2009 is upon us and we "offically" have entered a recession, we have a new president and new weddings to look forward to. January, February and March are much slower months for us and allow us to catch up on our video editing. We have finally returned to the quicker editing work flow we were used to within standard definition. Although our editing processing times have increased, we have be able to establish a work flow which allows us to edit and move on as fast as we were accustomed to in the previous years. We are now cranking out videos within 2 weeks of beginning the project!
We are on target to book and complete as many weddings as last year, as long as consumer confidence in the economy withstands. I know that couples are looking to conserve money and cut costs with their upcoming weddings and video is one of the first areas to be cut. While we feel video is just as important as photography we also want to offer this word of advice to planning couples. Video captures so many different aspects of your day and allows you to HEAR the emotions that are being seen. Your vows are the promise you make to your partner and should be able to be revisted from time to time. Photographs are beautiful and make for nice decoration around the house but the vows are the reason for the day. A high quality microphone allows for these memories and thoughts to be catured for years to come. If videography is one of the aspects cut from your budget, we urge you to have someone videotape the ceremony and maybe investigate renting a good quality wireless mic for the groom to wear. Although your video want be as refined as having it professionally filmed, you will at least have an audible copy of your promise.
We feel the economy is surely going to rebound and times will get better. Don't let your wedding memories be forgotten by trying to save a few dollars today. We are looking forward to our 09 weddings and speaking with you about your special day.

Recap and Looking Ahead
So the 2008 year is beginning to wind down, now it's time to catch up and look forward to 2009. We've had a very intense year and are looking forward to catching up on some editing. The new HD work flow has introduced a much greater timeline than anticipated and now all the kinks seem to be resolved. Over the year we have tested and retested many different ways of providing the highest quality standard definition DVD to our clients while archiving an HD edit for later delivery. Our down conversion process is now set in stone and we can pick up speed, as long as the editing machines don't let us down. We are very happy about this and you can be assured you are receiving the most compatible high quality movie available. We have posted a few wide screen HD samples on our site.
We can now focus on the Blu-Ray experiment, yes it sounds like a physics experiment, but it's only HD video on disc. Many consumers do not even own a Blu Ray player but want their wedding filmed in HD to be "future proof". 95% of our 08 weddings were filmed and edited in HD for delivery in HD sometime in the near future. We will contact our clients when we are able to deliver their videos in HD.Looking ahead in 2009....
2009 doesn't seem to have any significant desired dates as the last years have. The highly sought after 07/07/07 or 06/07/08 are now passed. The calendar did not cooperate for next year, possible unique dates are, 3/21/09 or 10/10/09; 010 has a few. Our bookings are right on target for this time of year, we are half booked. The next few month will considerably fill our calendar for 2009, so don't delay in booking. January, February and March are slow months for weddings in the Pittsburgh area, if you are planning a wedding for these months inquire about a reduced rate to film your day.
By popular request, We have begun offering photography to our clients. Many of our clients have asked if we provide photography as a package with video and until now we haven't. We have now found qualified assistants to allow us to split our skills and offer our clients more services without compromise. We felt it was a great idea to offer both services to our clients for many reasons. The greatest reason was rapport, some photographers and videographers don't get along well. We have worked with some of the best vendors in Pittsburgh and know that working TOGETHER creates a higher quality final product. We love weddings and are excited to offer both services to our clients. What a wonderful day for an outdoor wedding!! Tracy and Zach were hitched at an absolutely beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at Armstrong Farms in Saxonburg, PA! Tracy coordinated her entire wedding and every single detail was amazing, from the ceremony setup to the 120 etched champagne glasses, Tracy did it all!!

The ceremony was held in a gazebo over a pond and it was perfect! Tracy's dress was light gold with lots of detail and she looked gorgeous! Among the bridal party were their two very well trained great danes, Annabelle and Gunther. I was so very impressed by how calm they were and Gunther even wore a vest and tie!

After the ceremony we filmed the photo session, taken by our very own Kevin Pieto of Pittsburgh Imagery which is part of Pittsburgh Wedding DVD, and then we headed into the barn for the reception! As the sun was setting Tracy and Zach were introduced into the reception, the setting sun created such a wonderful ambiant light throughout the beautifully decorated barn!

After the toasts it was time for an amazing dinner, put together by Peter Medure of Mill Street Grill Restaurant in New Castle, PA! I can not say enough good things about the food and the staff, they did and absolutely fantastic job and we recommend them very highly!!! After the fabulous dinner, the dancing began with Tracy and Zach's first dance, with the barn doors open the glowing sky created a beautiful background, very romantic!! Then the fun dancing began, we had so much fun capturing all the fun dancing, the guests were having a great time! Tracy also did something very unique for her bouquet toss. She threw eight bouquets, yes I said EIGHT bouquets!! Although that sounds like a lot, it was sooo cute, each bouquet had a charm on it and each charm meant something different to the person who caught it, for example one charm was baby booties and it meant that a baby was in their near future. All the women had soo much fun with this and the bouquet toss included all the women at the reception, single or married!! All in all it was a wonderful day and I can not wait to put their video together!! Thank you for having us Tracy and Zach and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi Def & You

So, it's been a great year of weddings so far. Many wedding in many different places, you would think they're all the same but they're all totally different. We've filmed 20+ 2008 weddings in 1080i High Definition are are completely immersed in their editing. HD brought us a new work flow and some uncertainties. We've investigated many different ways to complete our new HD videos and finally settled on a great work flow. It was a struggle to say the least, but since HD DVD is still in it's infancy, it was to be expected.
All of our movies are now filmed and edited in HD and down converted to standard definition for delivery on regular DVD. Blu Ray hasn't come of age to be completlely deliverable to our clients. Since Sony Blu Ray has just won the format war over HD DVD we may now begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Since we are unable to deliver Blu Ray DVD's , we could have simply chose to edit in standard definition, but we didn't. We chose the longer more intense work flow in order to be able to offer our clients HD, when available. We have also decided to archive all our weddings to HD tape for future conversion to Blu Ray.

We've had to upgrade and invest in the latest and fastest Mac editing suites to simultaneously work on videos. Even with the increased render times and more time consuming work flow our full time editing hasn't fallen off our expected delivery dates. We're excited to have all the kinks worked out and can't wait until we are able to deliver a full DVD in High Definition, come on Sony and Apple, we're waiting!
We will be placing HD clips online in our new media browser shortly.
See you on the other side of the lens.

Wedding DVD Montage Music Suggestions
We are constantly asked for music suggestions for use on couples DVD's. Our best advice is to pick songs that have a special meaning to you, maybe something from the dating days. You can even take a look at your favorite bands, I'm confident they have a song that both of you like and would fit within your video montages. The songs aren't to be songs from your wedding day, like your 1st dance or songs the DJ played, we know those already. We use these songs as filler songs and montages, when the actual days audio has little going on. We have compiled a list of the top 100 songs used on some of our previous videos. Have a look!

May 31, 2008 Wedding Ami and Vinay

So, this past weekend took us to a Indian/Hindu marriage, which is called "Lagna Vivah" at the Embassy Suites and let me tell you it was BEAUTIFUL!!! When we first arrived before we even walked into the hotel, we already knew we were in the right spot, there was a DJ set up outside and a golden arch! As we continued into the hotel, we saw lots of families dressed in VERY colorful, beautiful attire! We were then directed toward the ballroom where the ceremony would take place, here is where we saw the AMAZING Mandap, which is an open altar with a canopy under which Ami and Vinay would have their marriage ceremony. It was white and gold and there was lots of lighting to illuminate it's beauty! Words cannot describe how absolutely wonderful it looked!

The ceremony was about an hour and 40 minutes, but with all the different things they do, it went by so fast! After the ceremony the Ami and Vinay left the ceremony for the "Vidaai" or farewell. This was very emotional as Ami said bye to her family to start her new life with Vinay. I even had tears in my eyes! Then, Ami and Vinay went and changed their attire for the reception!
As the reception began, Ami and Vinay's families were introduced as they followed with their introduction. After the introduction, there were toasts and the members of their families performed dances for the newlyweds. This was my favorite part of the evening, they were absolutely wonderful! After a wonderful vegetarian dinner, the dancing and fun began!

All in all it was a great day and we really enjoyed every part of it!!
